Meet Ryan
Ryan Frederick is an internationally recognized thought leader, author and innovator specializing in the intersection of longevity and place. As Founder of Here, he has created Place Planning, a holistic, research-based approach to help people find the right place for each stage of life.
As a thought leader, Ryan asks his audiences to consider the impact of longevity and the role of place in the quality of their lives. He advises leaders in real estate, senior living, financial services and health care as they weigh the risks and opportunities associated with increasing human longevity. His work has been cited in numerous outlets, including CBS News, Washington Post, Forbes, and others.
Ryan is on the Advisory Council for the Stanford Center on Longevity and previously served on the National Advisory Board of Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing and as a member of the Bipartisan Policy Center task force on health and housing. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Stanford Business School.
Speaking
Longevity and place expert Ryan Frederick delivers keynote presentations and facilitates workshops to help individuals and organizations embrace opportunities to live a fuller, healthier, and longer life.
The Opportunity of a Lifetime
Unpacks trends in longevity (50% of babies are expected to live at least 100 years!), the importance of focusing on healthspan and wealthspan, not just lifespan, the role of place in shaping positive outcomes, and specific opportunities for individuals and organizations to embrace this moment.
The Transformative Power of Place
Provides a deep dive into the four dimensions of place (environment, health, community and finances) and the unique role that place has in transforming lives and our society. Individuals are armed with a framework to choose and activate their places and organizations responsible for creating places are empowered to shape civilization for the better.
The Age of Longevity Planning
Emphasizes the essential shift in planning to adapt to longer lifespans. While financial and retirement planning remain crucial, they are no longer sufficient. Life planning must evolve to address the unique opportunities and challenges of extended lifespans, carrying significant implications for wealth advisors, financial services firms, individuals, and families.

Place plays a significant role in health and happiness
The right place elevates personal well-being. It can help promote purpose, facilitate human connection, catalyze physical activity, support financial health, and inspire community engagement. Conversely, the wrong place can be detrimental to your health. In Right Place, Right Time, Ryan Frederick argues that where you live matters enormously—especially during the second half of your life.
Ryan Frederick, a recognized thought leader on the intersection of place and longevity and the CEO of Here, provides tools to evaluate your current place and assess what you need for a long, healthy future. Ryan explores the pros and cons of various living options, from remaining in your current home to downsizing, intergenerational living, co-housing, senior living, and more. Along the way, he helps readers answer critical questions as they prepare for longevity, but most importantly, he asks: “Are you in the right place?”
The rest of the book unpacks specific considerations for choosing your place, beginning with attributes of different regions and neighborhoods, then looking at specific housing models. Ryan also delves into how housing is changing, particularly from a technology and health care perspective. Right Place, Right Time challenges the reader to be more intentional about place as they prepare for longevity.

An Era of Change
As we live longer, new ways of thinking, new modes of operation, and new business strategies are needed to help us thrive longer - with place often a key lever.
